The Red Jade

Our red jade is going off and it's absolutely beautiful. It has actually gone off two times in the last three months, which is extremely rare--it must be very happy. We will post pictures of it shortly. Aloha, Coconut Cottage B&B

First Day of Fall 2009

Today is the first day of Fall and the weather is absolutely beautiful on the Big Island and at Coconut Cottage B&B. The Summer was rather warm and dry, but you really couldn't ask for better weather than now. Be sure to check out some of new specials we have running at the B&B. Aloha

Mele Kalikimaka & Happy Holidays
from Coconut Cottage Bed & Breakfast

Aloha All,

We are enjoying beautiful sunny 80 degree island weather as we enter this wonderful time of the year.
During the holidays we would like to wish all of our guests a very joyous season and a Happy New Year.

We have had several requests for recommendations on our favorite Hawaiian holiday music, so we decided to share with you our top three selections (all are available on iTunes).

  • The Makaha Sons, Christmas Day in Hawaii Nei

  • Amy Hanaiali’i, A Hawaiian Christmas

  • The Hawaii Calls Orchestra, A Merry Hawaiian Christmas

During this holiday season we would also like to share with you the recipe for our banana muffins/bread. It is one of our most requested recipes.

1 cup sugar
3 bananas (6 if using apple bananas)
2 eggs
½ cup butter
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt (omit if using salted butter)
1 cup nuts (optional)

Mix with fork. Bake in greased muffin tins at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. If in a bread tin, bake at 300 degrees for one hour.

Aloha and Mele Kalikimaka from Coconut Cottage Bed & Breakfast.
